How Often Should You Actually Update Your Website?
There's no single right answer, but there is a realistic minimum: security patches and plugin updates monthly at the very least, off-site backups on a schedule you've actually tested a restore from, and a broken-link check every couple of months as content changes. Skip these and the failure mode isn't usually dramatic — it's a slow slide into an outdated, slower, less secure site that nobody notices until something breaks or a client points it out. This is the exact cadence built into our website maintenance packages, so it happens on schedule instead of whenever there's time.
